Class entry 1/18/10

Jay Barden

This week was the longest week of the school year so far. It seemed like an eternity. Every day and every period went by so slow. I am now looking forward to this week because it will be only a four day week. There was some sad news regarding to pro football this week. Former Clemson football star and Tampa Bay Buccaneer Gaines Adams died of a heart attack a couple of days ago. This is very sad news as he was not only a good man according to Espn, however he was also an all American in college and the 4th overall draft pick in the 2008 NFL draft. Other news in sports, the jets defeated the chargers in the AFC divisional playoff game seventeen to fourteen. It was an outstanding game played by both teams as rookie running back Shonn Greene had a breakthrough game. He kept pounding the ball up the middle time after time again gaining up to five yards a carry. Eventually in the fourth quarter, he ran over the charger’s safety and ran fifty yards for a touchdown. What an outstanding performance by a rookie in the playoffs. Also, fellow rookie teammate and Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez played a decent game as well. He did not make too many mistakes which enabled the Jets to defeat the chargers. After the game, the Chargers players were very disappointed. Running back Ladanian Tomlinson who in my opinion is a worn out running back, only rushed for twenty four yards. And then after the game he was complaining in the press conference.
The Vikings also defeated the Cowboys this weekend by a lop siding score. The Cowboys should draft a new quarterback because Tony Romo just is not getting it done. There was a point in the game when linebacker Keith Brooking assumed that the Vikings were running up the score when they went for a fourth down late in the fourth quarter after they were already up by thirty points. Coach Brad Childress told Keith Brooking to get over it because the object of the game is to put as many points possible on the scoreboard to defeat your opponent in the end. The Cowboys need either a new quarterback or new receivers. The Cowboy receivers are horrible. Roy Williams is the most overrated player in the National Football League. Yes that statement is a fact. He did not catch one ball in this playoff game and he is getting paid nine million dollars a year. That is an absurd statistic.
Baseball is starting up in the spring and I am hitting and throwing after school every day. I have been hitting and throwing in the off season three times a week however, now I need to crank it up to every day in order to prepare myself for the first game at the end of February. We have a varsity baseball team at this school even though it is a first year school. Also, we will be playing a normal twenty six game schedule. I have just finished breaking my glove in and am ready for the start of the season. I hope that this season goes well for me. It is my junior year and probably the most important year of baseball in my life if I want to play at the next level. I need to do well.
